- “Beyond Unionism”
- The teachers’ unions are useful, but they aren’t militant. All unions in all sectors should be working to change their communities in more progressive ways. Two points out of many detailing where the current iterations of teachers’ unions in Florida are dropping the ball and a first step to try and pick it back up.
- “Illusion of Choice”
- A dramatization of a conversation that happens far too often: a parent and teacher have differing ideas about the best way forward for a child’s education. As the conversation goes on, the parent and teacher realize that they aren’t opposed to each other, but to privatization.
- “FLVS: A Tech Road to Defund and Dumb Down”
- Florida Virtual School, a program for K-12 students that replaces in-person instruction with online programs, is also a tool to advance the Florida government’s aims of privatizing public education and weakening the budgets of public schools in the state. Our state government continues to try and cut teachers out of the learning process, either through FLVS or trying to play whack-a-mole with the unions. We cannot leave our children’s educations and futures in the hands of those who would sell them for profit.
