The U.S. government has a policy of leveraging war and destabilization for economic gain. The war between Hamas and Israel is no different.
Both political parties in the U.S. are complicit in the destruction of Gaza and the West Bank, in addition to the deaths of thousands of innocent Palestinians. They hide this fact with empty promises and “pressure” on Israel to allow humanitarian aid. A few hours notice for a bombing campaign or a break in a constant siege is not enough to clean the blood on our hands.
A war that many of us did not sign up to fund. Our state and federal governments see more use in sending hundreds of millions to fund the Israeli genocide effort rather than using that money for its people. The crumbling infrastructure in our cities, our underfunded schools and teachers, any of our needs is second string compared to the war.
They hear our chants and try to disorganize our efforts, they know that this war is unpopular. There are even some world leaders who have agreed on the call for an immediate ceasefire. Yet nothing happens in our country, other than funding more war. Voting, protesting and civil disobedience will only get us so far. Our real power rises when we come together to build independent organizations that are capable of resisting and pushing back imperialist forces. We hold collective power when we build our political unity, grow independent from the state, and become combative in our personal, professional, and social spaces.
It’s our time to stand up and fight back for our needs!
